01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Set back slightly from the surrounding street life, PASSAGE COFFEE NIHOMBASHI occupies the floor right beside the reception desk on the 2st floor of the MIMARU SUITES Tokyo Nihombashi hotel. While tucked away from casual street-level view, it operates as an open cafe welcoming outside guests just as freely as hotel residents. The airy, generously spaced interior feels clean and uncluttered, providing a calm perch to pause over a book or rest your feet while exploring Nihombashi.
Brewing Methods and Single-Origin Nuances
Coffee selections at the counter span pour-overs with beans chosen from a rotating list, distinctive AeroPress preparations, and a cold brew steeped patiently over 12 hours. Light-roast single origins draw out bright acidity and fruity qualities, showing their character equally well as hot hand-drips or refreshing, crisp iced cold brews. Cafe lattes with fine latte art are also well regarded, balancing gentle milk sweetness while keeping the espresso's clean contour clearly defined.
Morning Starts and Afternoon Light Bites
Doors open at 7:30, with breakfast options ready to accompany fresh coffee. The morning lineup offers plenty of variety, from toast made with domestic Japanese wheat and served with butter and honey, to homemade granola bowls, hot pressed sandwiches filled with additive-free ham and Gouda cheese, and a sandwich layered with Kesennuma mackerel rillettes. It is equally dependable for an afternoon spent over a cookie or pain au chocolat, or simply for picking up a bag of freshly roasted whole beans to take home.
